My Bio
I was born in the Philippines and at the age of 1 1/2, I immigrated with my parents to the U.S. We lived with relatives in San Francisco and Chicago before my dad got a job with CitiCorp and was transferred to Sioux Falls, SD. My parents, new baby brother and I went to live in South Dakota. I got two younger siblings and spent about 11 years there before we moved again to Las Vegas, NV.
We moved to Las Vegas in October of 1993 and it was definitely an adjustment to both a large city and West Coast mentality. I guess it was more culture shock that anything else! I graduated in 1997 from Western High School and moved to Reno, NV in August 1997 to attend the University of Nevada, Reno.
I finished my Biology degree in 2001 and started working at a basic research lab on campus studying Type II Diabetes. I worked there for a year and transferred to a lab down the hall that focused on nutritional intervention and cancer. In 2004, I started my graduate degree and finished in August 2007 with my Master’s of Science. My thesis was called Docosahexaenoic Acid and Prostate Cancer.
In August of 1997, I picked up Jeremy in an elevator in our co-ed dorm. LIttle did I know then how our lives would become entwined. We became friends and started dating in May 1998. We got married in a spontaneous ceremony on February 18, 2005 after a four year engagement. Our first daughter, Aelliana Llonor, arrived on January 28, 2006. After I received my degree in 2007, I became a full-time stay at home Mom.
Our second daughter, Aurabella Noelle, joined the world on November 3, 2008 - the day before her scheduled C-section. These kids like arriving on their own terms!
We are now awaiting the newest member of our family, due in early September 2011. We will have to see if the trend continues!
Currently, my days are filled with the daily joys of caring for our two girls, reading, crafting, working on my website and cooking. Sometimes I feel older than my age when I look at my piles of on-going projects that surround me - e.g. I got a new embroidery machine for our 5th anniversary - but then I realize that while our lives may seem boring to others, the richness and satisfaction I get from it is really in our everyday activities. The scenery may change around us, but the joy and love we find in each other is our constant.
